Good atmosphere, but disappointing meal
The dining atmosphere was pleasant and the service was average... but the food was very disappointing.

There were very few to choose from in the menu. We did not go for the $32 grill menu because we weren't that hungry. If I didn't remember wrong, there were only 5 or 6 other items in the menu to choose from.

I ordered the seafood platter, which was appalling. There were 2 pieces of squid, 3 pieces of octopus, a few bite-size prawns and 8 pieces of chips including small ones (yes i counted). All that for $20. No fish in my seafood platter - you'll have to pay extra if you want a barramundi.

My partner's steak was also served with a meagre amount of chips. Are potatoes that expensive nowadays?

If the food ain't fantastic, then I'd at least expect quantity to make up for quality, but sadly I would have to say the restaurant failed in both.

Good, but not Brazilian
As Brazilians, my wife and I invited a couple of good Aussie friends to this restaurant, intending to show them how our BBQ would taste. Although the food is good, it's far from what we were expecting. Instead, it tastes more like Asian, like Chinese or something, which we like as well - love Chinese cuisine - it was just a bit frustrating. Maybe we put too much expectation. We had our friends willing to know our cuisine and ourselves really missing it.
When commenting with them about the differences, we were approached by a non-Brazilian waiter (nothing wrong with that, just he did it a bit abruptly) that decided to tell us what a Brazilian BBQ is about. In the end, he basically said the process is Brazilian, but not the dishes.
In short, it's not bad, just not Brazilian.

A feast for the senses
As soon as you walk into Red Hot the smells and sounds of meat cooking rotisserie style assault your senses. The grill is right next to you as you enter and you are memorized by the vast quantities of revolving meat. The LCD screens show you images of the bombardment of food that is inevitably to follow. The seating is simple and comfortable, nothing too extraordinary about the furniture. However you are treated to many brightly colored pictures and posters of Brazil and its people. Ordering the all you can eat deal is possibly the best decision, as it offers you endless supplies of food that is grilled to perfection. The waiters roam the floor with sword-like skewers stacked to the hilt with delicious offerings for any diner who wishes to taste what Red Hot does best, grilled meats. The beef is tender, the chicken succulent, the pork deliciously cooked in its own juices and the ribs are cooked precisely right every time. Red Hot does grilled meats like no other; its traditional Brazilian take on the all you can eat mantra is impressive. It's a definite must for meat lovers, although vegetarians are taken care of with the complementary salads and potato chips as well as vegetarian dishes that can be ordered separately.
Red Hot has taken traditional Brazilian cuisine and brought it to Gouger Street. It has done so in tremendous fashion.
