Red Cray

The Red Cray executive seafood platter for two is a must-try. Whole grilled rock lobster (thermidor or mornay), Morton Bay bugs, smoked Tasmanian salmon, grilled king prawns, garlic prawns, grilled fish, beer-battered fried fish, grilled marinated calamari, oysters natural and Kilpatrick, Cajun cuttlefish, seared scallops and chips! Oyster lovers should try the Bloody Mary oyster shots, served with fresh celery and fried wontons.

Underwhelmed
We visited the Red Cray following recommendations from several people. As we were celebrating a birthday, we splashed out on the executive platter. At $110 for two people I expected to be satisfied both by the quality and quantity. I was a little disappointed. The seared scallops, fish cakes and mussels were almost cold and the mussels were tiny. The battered fish was oily and lacked flavour. The cray was OK but not great. The prawns and seared squid were very nice. When we finished the platter we were far from full.
On the positive side, the service was friendly and efficient. I may go back and order something else, but there are plenty of restaurants out there...

Definitely coming back
We came here to try the food and it was quite satisfying. I had the chilli mussels - such a delight, so tasty and hot. It didn't come with any bread, however the very polite waiter had told us prior to ordering. My partner had the garlic prawns - they were really delicious; and my friend had the 'ocean and earth' - she said that everything was perfect except for the steak it was a little dry and under seasoned. The garlic bread was the only let down, however everything else was great. Definitely coming back again!

We are from the country and were down for a few days and went to the Red Cray for dinner, the service was brilliant and very friendly and the food was exquisite really, it was absolutely delicious and we have been trying to make a time to get back there ever since! I had the lobster thermidore (yum) and my husband had the surf and turf, which he loved.
