Okay okay, before all you ramen purists get your knickers in a knot and start bashing away at the keyboard in complaint, know this from the outset: This place, at the back of the ground floor of Berkelouw Books in Newtown, does not offer the traditional Japanese ramen you may be expecting. Tasty and awesome though the well-known and much-loved usual stuff is, these guys - of Swedish, Aussie and English persuasions - have put together a small, slightly left-of-centre menu of ramen dishes that are more like a fusion of Japanese, Chinese and even some Western flavours thrown in for good measure.
The results may surprise you, but they certainly won't disappoint. You won't look back after trying the Murakami ramen (named for every self-respecting hipster's favourite Japanese author), with its salty, porky, miso broth and soft poached egg. BYO and the chance to slurp and splatter the soupy contents of your bowl over the books for sale should have you grabbing your keys as we speak.
