For a good feed at a decent price, local pubs are the way to go, and with so many deciding to go down the gastro-pub route the competition is fierce, and a bad meal is often more difficult to find than a good one. The Railway Hotel offers diners all they could ever want from a pub meal, serving all the usual favourites, such as chicken parma, plus the chef's specialties (described on an enormous mural of a blackboard menu). After eating in the laidback bistro area or the more formal dining room, adjourn to the railway-themed bar, where crowds are regularly entertained by live music.

Great
This place is a gem. Home cooked italian style meals in a very modest pub. Don't be put off by the furniture or the blokeyness of the place. Choose a meal from the massive menu (recommend chicken parma, veal, pasta or fish) and make sure you get some vegies on the side. The serves are modest and the service is minimalist but you'll definitely come back for more. Recommended for a Friday lunch with your mates or pre-game meal with a few beers.

Oh dear..
My work colleagues and I dined here recently for a work function. The menu was quite large and varied, and looked promising. However, the food on this occasion was not up to scratch, and the prices are far too expensive for what you receive. The veal schnitzel I ordered was wafer thin, very little vegetables accompanied the meal. Nearly all of my party had complaints with our meals, one having to go back to the kitchen to be reheated as it was stone cold. Perhaps they were having a bad night, but the experience has left a bad taste in my mouth.
