Fresh air, a bubbling brook and the craggy sandstone peaks of the Grampians looming over it all; this robust country living would give anyone an appetite. Dishes such as kangaroo fillets with bush tomato chutney offer a taste of native Australian cuisine, while serious hunger can be satisfied with a meaty beef and Guinness pie.

Terrible Food
This is my first review and I am compelled to share the experience of my friends at The Quarry. We had a weekend with three couples in Halls Gap and one of the couples had brithdays around the weekend. We decided on a nice dinner to celebrate and unfortunately chose The Quarry. Although they had smiling and friendly staff, the food was very poor. We started with the Salt & Pepper Squid which was chewy like a rubber band and lacking flavour. For mains the stand out worst was the Quarry Barramundi. The fish had been frozen and then not thawed out properly so it was soggy. The outer crusting of sesame & poppy seeds served with a coconut, sweet chilli & coriander sauce simply didn't go together and was inedible. Similar was the Mango Barramundi. It is like this kitchen is being run by a 15 year old who has received no chef training, or somebody who doesn't understand food paring. Please lift your game as the restaurant has a relatively nice atmosphere and could be successful.

A shocker
I agree with the review before. I have been to this venue on a number of occasion and it has always been big disappointment. Such a shame because the venue its self is lovely. So many country areas have really picked up their standard around food unfortunately Halls Gap is not one of them.

Restaurant review
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone to go and eat at. There were screaming children over in the family section of the restaurant, lack of menus - we got one between the two of us, they ran out of a pasta dish by 8.30pm, they could do with a bit more of variety on their menu to satisfy a bigger range of customers.

There is no place in Halls Gap that I would recommened to anyone to eat at as all of them were so down market and so badly made. They can't even make a decent cappucino. Get with it people in the country!
