Fresh food and pleasant service
It was a freezing cold winter night but inside was cosy. We weren't rushed to choose our food and, as I'm vegetarian, we chose rice paper rolls, garlic bok choi and the vegetables and tofu in satay sauce. None disappointed. The vegetables were incredibly fresh and the tofu had a silken texture in the middle. The satay sauce was lovely and the garlic was balanced just right. The waiter never stopped filling our pot of green tea, long after we had finished eating.

Only place to eat on Victoria Street
I have been dining at Quan 88 since it opened about 15 years ago and in all that time I think I have had 1 meal that didn't impress me. The food is fresh, full of flavour and ridiculously well priced.

I recommend the following: crispy beef in sweet chilli sauce (not too hot but you will be thirsty for a few days); vietnamese coleslaw; won ton soup (a stock standard but SO refreshing; spinach and garlic(if your main is meat heavy); grilled chicken with chilli and lemon grass; grilled beef in mint leaves (a must-have entree).

The restaurant decor is fairly simple and if crowded the noise can be a little deafening but I forgive it all for the food.

There is a bottle shop about 4 doors down and it is easily accessed via public transport with the 109 trams at the front door and North Richmond station a short walk up the street.
