Located in a backstreet of a laneway off a minor thoroughfare, this trendy hole-in-the-wall espresso bar is the embodiment of Melbourne cafe culture. The decor is ever-changing and evolving as somewhat of a social experiment. When a hanging fern installation was decommissioned due to health regulations in 2009, the new installation which replaced it almost effortlessly was signage detailing the health warnings.
It's not too many cafes that will publicise warnings from the health department and become even more popular. This is testament to the fact that the smooth, rich coffee and freshly-made baguettes and bagels are not the only reasons people continue to frequent this place.
