The Pot Food & Wine over in Hyde Park is a perennial favourite in Adelaide for very good reason. Now owner Simon Kardachi's latest project, Press Food & Wine, is set to become another stalwart of the Adelaide dining scene.
Aside from balancing the rough-hewn, earthen toned downstairs with the softer textured dining room above, one of Kardachi's neatest tricks at Press was luring chef Andrew Davies from his stomping ground at Bistro Dom.
In his brand new digs, Davies presents a subtle menu that showcases just about everything good about Adelaide. Provenance reigns supreme on a menu that meanders through sub-headings like "raw", "seafood", "smaller", "offal" and "wood-grilled". It's smart, understated and above all features confidence-inspiring food that lets you know your meal is in safe hands. Just as well there's a very reasonably priced tasting menu for those who want to give those safe hands a bit more room to play.
