The site of the Andrew 'Boy' Charlton Pool, at the edge of Woolloomooloo, has been a popular swimming spot since the establishment of the colony over 200 years ago. Recently refurbished, ABC pool now boasts a beautiful cafe and function centre with spectacular views over the pool and across Sydney Harbour. The Poolside Cafe offers delicious breakfasts of seasonal fruits, free-range eggs and sourdough toast; and lunches like crab and avocado tomato salad with pistachio and lime salsa.
The cafe's floor to ceiling windows and open-air terrace look out over Sydney Harbour, Garden Island and the Botanic Gardens and, although a stone's throw from the CBD, it's a world away from the hustle and bustle. Open for breakfast and lunch during the swimming season (September-April) Poolside Cafe is available for private and corporate functions all year round.

Once was better.
I have been eating at this cafe for a couple of years. I take out-of-town visitors and eat there myself quite a lot as I lve in the city. It used to be better. Has it changed ownership? Since it re-opened after its winter break the foo seems less imaginative and less generous. The menu has shrunken and the choice is boring. But the wine servings are the standout ripoff! DFT says 150 mls is the standard serving size....here it is 100 mls. It used to be 150mls. Smaller portion sizes, reduced menu, smaller wine servings...ALERT! This place is on the slide methinks.
