You can almost feel the sand under your feet at Pondok Bali, the most authentic Indonesian eatery in the city. Decorated in all the colours of a tropical fruit basket, it's easy to settle in for a relaxed, romantic evening here, and owner and chef Junaidi Djapri smiles in the knowledge that couples have come here to celebrate anniversaries of their Bali weddings. Indonesian-born, his halal-prepared food has also been enjoyed by many holidaying Muslims over the past decade.
From the menu, prawn and corn fritters make for nice nibbles while you meditatie on your main. Sanur fried chicken is a lightly spiced, flour-coated fillet served with a tangy Balinese lime sauce. Tender beef slices are simmered and stewed in tomatoes, ginger, spices and soy sauce. Banana leaf fish is marinated in herbs and spices then grilled in the leaf. A side of spicy boiled then deep-fried eggs is imperative here; they come with a finger-licking sauce. Pandan pancakes, with a sweet filling of coconut and palm sugar, will delight as a dessert.

Love this Restaurant !
We regularly go to this restaurant and love it. The decor and atmosphere are great, food is delicious and well priced and service is friendly and efficient. The restaurant has a variety of seating arrangements catering for couples and groups. Highly recommended !

Great experience
Fantastic service and great food. The service was really quite remarkable and we were tended to quite regularly. The food was lovely, something we had never tried before but we loved all courses and will definitely return there with friends to share the experience.
