Pompei's

Put simply, George Pompei, a master at his craft, has the best gelateria outside of Napoli, while the pizzas impress with an emphasis on authentic flavour rather than simply volume. Get a table out on the pavement to relax and enjoy this artisan's work.

Yummmmm best prosciutto pizza!!
I can't get enough of the prosciutto pizza, it's a must! I wouldn't know if anything else is good cos I just LOVE this one!
Service seems fine, pretty busy and preoccupied most of the time, but nice. Very casual atmosphere.

Save yourselves the bucks and the trouble!
I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend and another friend. We were seated quickly but tried for 15 minutes to get a waiter's attention to order.

We ordered an antipasto plate and three pasta dishes. The antipasto was delicious but that is no credit to the chef as it was prosciutto with bread biscuits and three pickles ($18). Our pasta dishes didn't arrive for 50 minutes after ordering. Meanwhile the couple who had arrived at the same time as us had eaten and left. Another couple were seated 15 minutes after us and had eaten and getting ready to leave.

The pasta was less than mediocre, the only two things it had going for it was that it was cooked and it was hot. I ordered spaghetti alla puttanesca and the star ingredients were scarce and the pasta was more than al dente. My boyfriend ordered gnocchi and my friend ordered ravioli both of which the restaurant claims to be handmade daily by masterful chefs, however, there were no signs of any pasta of this kind.

Also these dishes were less than mediocre and all around $20. The size was definitely unimpressive, there were a total of 10 small pieces of ravioli and a handful of gnocchi and just enough spaghetti to twist into a appealing spiral on my soup bowl/dish.

There were a lot of children running around and bumping into the back of our chairs, although that is hardly the restaurant's fault. But it does take points away for ambience.

When we decided to leave which was straight after we finished eating, I gave some constructive criticism to one of the waiters and he apologised and gave me a few company-scripted excuses. Better than nothing I suppose. On top of all of this, Sunday surcharge! They are so lucky I couldn't even be bothered to get my change because the tip I left was NOT deserved.

Best Italian Food in Bondi
Yep this place is pretty good. Went there for my birthday, was on the later side of the night (round 9) I think and only had to wait 10 mins for a table, not bad for a Saturday night. The food was delicious, we had pasta gorgonzola and straight bolognaise - superb. Didn't have the pizza as we overdosed the night before but from what I say it's pretty good. The bruschetta and salad was also top-notch.

The bottom line is if you are looking for good Italian food in Bondi then this place is the best. Go and enjoy.

One of the best
The care that goes into the preparation of the food lifts this place from being another pizza, pasta, gelato joint to somewhere worth travelling to. I've never had tastier crisper pizza bases, the northern Italian pasta dishes are sublime, you'll go a long way to get a better caprese salad - and all this pales into insignificance once you taste the freshly made gelato. At Pompei's you're in the hands of a master. It's family time around six o'clock, so if you don't like ankle biters, come later.
