Plume Chinese Restaurant

Plume has everything you would expect from a good Chinese restaurant, plus a few things you wouldn't. All the traditional dishes appear such as Peking duck and seafood san choi bow, but dishes such as the emu fillet with a spicy sauce might tempt more adventurous diners.

Variability in Service
The food was good, no argument about that.

We were seated promptly on a slow night, and then left. Called the waiter and ordered some drinks and some water. The drinks arrived and three of the four requested glasses of water.

Had to ask for the menu. And then had to ask for the wine list. The wine requested arrived - two years younger than specified on the wine list. Why? "It's an old wine list". But the adjustments to food price have been manually changed on the food menu. Too bad.

The second bottle of wine requested failed to arrive until a further request was made. Topping up of water glasses required a special request.

It wasn't as it it was a busy night. Maybe the staff had experienced a busy day, but it's a shame that the service didn't match the food.

By far the best yum cha in Melbourne
I have been to Plume for a Sunday yum cha three times now, and it just keeps getting better.
The service is very attentive, very helpful, and whenever I have been unsure what is being offered, always happy to explain.
I would recommend Plume to anyone looking for an authentic Chinese yum cha, but for a group of more that 2 or 3, definitely book ahead.
