The Town Hall Hotel, affectionately known to most as the "Townie", is one of Newtown's most popular watering holes, where beer, sports, music, conversation and general late-night debaucheries take place. Just a trip upstairs reveals another of the Townie's main drawcards: its down-to-earth Aussie bistro, called the Platform 8 Bar & Bistro. This modern bistro offers all you'd want out of a gastro-pub, including prime steaks, huge burgers, creamy pastas, and even all-day breakfasts (not bad for a pub that opens at midday). The upstairs balcony area is a good place to enjoy your beers and burgers with mates while watching the hustle and bustle of Newtown below.
