Deep in banana country, this Coffs Harbour hotel dishes up hearty home-style feasts - with hardly a yellow-skinned fruit in sight. Unsurprisingly though, Piemans at the Planto is known mostly for its oven-baked pies with mashed potato and good old mushy peas. Diners can select from warming options such as beef steak pie, a spiced Indian curry pie or even an old-style lamb and vegetable shepherd's pie. Piemans also serves up traditional pub favourites, including chicken parmigiana, veal cordon bleu and a fisherman's basket served with a side of basil mayonnaise.
