Having relocated to the swanky new St Margaret's Complex, Pizza Mario is still the only pizzeria in Australia sanctioned by the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana. David and Marcos Cowdrill's dozen or so woodfired pizzas make for a purist's heaven, from their 'DOC', a margherita made with buffalo mozzarella and fresh tomatoes; to the 'partenopea', topped with olives, Sicilian capers and oregano. The calzones are also terrific, as is the regularly offered fried calamari.

Very Dissapointing Experience
I must say this was our first and last visit to Pizza Mario.
For entrees we had the zucchini flowers, white bait fritters and Prosciutto with figs. All these meals were pretty bland and didn't look appetising. Then we shared a pizza for dinner which was very average. The menu doesn't separate the white-base pizzas from the tomato- base pizzas. We got the first order of our pizza wrong as it was a white-base and the waiter told us that since it did not say tomato on the description that we should assume it was a white-based pizza

Best pizza this side of the sun!
Wow!
I've been here about 10 times in the past 6 months and the place is astounding each time. The staff are really attentive without being in the way (ok, one is a bit crabby but he's rarely there these days), the food - magnificent, the general buzz - well, buzzy.
I'd recommend this place over any pizza/Italian place I've been to in Sydney.

Fantastico
The calamari is one of the best, simple and classic. The Pizzas are the best in Sydney and the gelato is a great way to finish a superb meal. Bellissimo
