Pink Zulu

The Cottesloe nightlife has been given a much-needed addition with the recent opening of this mod-Oz-meets-the-horn-of-Africa-inspired cocktail lounge and restaurant.

Bright pink, jet black and platinum silver dominate the colour scheme of the chic lounge area at Pink Zulu. Ornate candelabras and ostrich-covered ottomans round out the uber-cool safari theme. The menu features a myriad of culinary influences from Tunisian, Ethiopian and even Zimbabwean cuisine. Share plates range from warm marinated olives to complement the sophisticated cocktail list, to a full-sized black cardamom wagyu skirt steak with a braised ox-tail roulade and a disturbingly-titled monkey gland sauce.

Pink tick
We went to Pink Zulu for dinner on a Friday evening and really enjoyed it. Very tasty food - really different spices and ingredient combinations than we ever had before, desert that was not just bitter sweet. Friendly and prompt service, nice atmosphere. We'll defnitely be going back.

Went twice in 48 hours!
Newly opened Pink Zulu is a great new tapas menu/bar. Having taken over the old Philip's Food and Wine premises, Zulu is smoking hot with its vibrant pink walls, beautiful brocade upholstered furniture and furnishings.

Love the cocktail menu (all the drinks my girlfriends and i had were pink coloured!), good wine menu with lots of South African wines, to match the Zulu theme.

Opening night my table tried two of the grazing plates. Impressed - a good mix of african/australian fusion. i.e. interesting game-y meats and seafood mixed with fresh produce and several ethnic spices.

Went back the night following for dinner and had an African take on a lamb moussaka. Very tasty, accompanied by buttery cous cous.

The service is still a bit frantic and all over the place i.e. took 30 mins for a cocktail but its only been open a few short weeks so i'm certain it will improve.

Good experience, my new local, looking forward to going back soon!
