Sparse and graceful, Picnic sets itself apart from the many techno-pumping South Yarra eateries. A whitewash of stucco walls and fresh flowers enhance the wall-mounted antique village-style chair and ladder and alfresco settings on classy Toorak Road.
Chef Adam Pruckner provides homemade sweet and savoury muffins, brioche, croissants and cookies at the coffee bar, as well as soups, pasta and gourmet salads. The variety of dishes alternates regularly with a seasonal menu and the specials chalk-board carries current recipes such as cold chicken salad with olive and feta, or salmon with roma tomatoes, capers and Spanish onion.
At breakfast, there are magazines to read and the eggs are free-range, with a unique meat and dairy-free vegan Big Breakfast also on offer. Modern canvases painted by owner Amelia Hinckfuss' mother, Helen, adorn the walls with calm pastels and the addition of live classical guitar music on Saturday mornings perfects Picnic's stylish simplicity.

Delicious food & a friendly service!
Me and my girlfriend had lunch at Picnic today and after being pleasantly welcome by the 'new owners' I was made to feel very welcome. The service was A+ and food was delicious.
We will defiantly be visiting again!
