This small cafe/bar has a funky feel and caters for music lovers as much as it does for coffee fiends. Music paraphernalia, including twin turntables and large speakers, are dotted about the chic/shabby space, and customers sit back and relax to jazz music while talking to their friends.
Located in the Swinburne University district, Piccolo Espresso has a large following of uni students, who as well as dropping in for a pick-me-up during the day, will enjoy the live music and DJs the coffee house hosts three nights a week and make use of the licensed bar (a baileys/espresso shot is just one of the drinks available while you're being entertained). The coffee comes from Australian company Coffee Supreme and is made with their La San Marco machine by experienced baristas. Piccolo Espresso also offers a small breakfast/brunch menu, which features meals such as an olive and feta snack plate and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese on toast.
