Despite being located in Australia's only inland state, the Peppered Prawn is utterly devoted to seafood. This little eatery also has a few other claims to fame, such as its house-prepared sauces and its batter-free meals - instead of fatty chunks of batter, the seafood is dipped in a light concoction, made with all natural products. Then there is the comprehensive range of gluten-free dishes sitting proudly on the menu.
The natural-toned interior houses individual tables with an adjoining beige bench seat running the length of one wall. Simple cutlery and glassware mark out each setting. Darker brown feature walls, set off by dangling rectangular lights, lend a contemporary elegance to this casual-chic establishment.
Casual it may be, but the Peppered Prawn is still ultimately indulgent. The meals are all well-sized, but for those with a king-sized seafood hunger, there's always the option of the 'sky tower' - the name speaks for itself, really.

What a surprise!
We had driven past the Peppered Prawn several times and it seemed to have few customers so when seeking a seafood dinner we had no great expectations. We booked late and were lucky to get a seat. The restaurant was full but the patrons comfortably spaced. So it was quite a surprise to get great food and absolutely superlative service. We had the trio of breads, oysters, crispy prawns flathead fillets and baked baby snapper all fresh, well cooked and tasty. The meals were certainly well-sized without bulking up with chips and more that enough for the average hunger. We will have to starve ourselves before tackling the seafood tower and forego the breads. What made our night was the service. The girls waiting were friendly, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Although the place was full the timing of the courses was just right allowing us to savour both the food and drinks without undue rush or delay. We will be going back again and will look forward to an alfresco meal on the terrace on a soft summer evening.
