Gourmet Travller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide - "As you'd expect, it's all about the wine. You can smell ferments in the adjacent winery as you arrive and vineyards fill the foreground view from the restaurant's full-length windows."

My friends and I were very excited to dine in at this restaurant after having read a few write ups on the web and magazines.
The venue was great facing the vinyards but we weren't convinced of the service given.
First, we had to take a choice of 2 or 3 course meals with a glass of wine even though one of us was unwell and preferred having a soft drink instead.
We asked our waiter if he could have a soft drink instead of the wine but the answer was no. Yes it was part of the package, which we understood clearly, so we were happy to have paid the same amount as the wine for that soft drink. This still a no. So he had to order a soft drink, giving away the wine to me who also couldn't drink due to driving.
Anyway, we ordered a bottle of still mineral water, and the waiter poured it into glasses and finished it.
After I had a sip of the water, he came back with a new bottle opened and topped up our glasses. This came as a surprise to us as our glasses were still about 90% full of water, so why would they need to be topped up, or I should say, why open another bottle of water without checking with the guests? We thought this was really pushy and rude.
Our waiter did his job but with no emotion. He gave me a glass of red which was different from what it was on the menu even though I'm not sure if he did this on purpose. The other food runner dropped our dishes without a smile and without a single word.
It's such a shame that this restaurant has a beautiful view, great settings and delicious food but the service provided wasn't up to the standards.
On the other hand, the manager was a friendly man and we wished that he had served our table instead throughout.
