The fit-out is retro, the furniture is vintage and the vibe is chilled out at Pearl Oyster, a cutesy and kitschy little cafe pretty much bang on the border of Preston, Thornbury and Northcote (a trap for young players and the source of much confusion for even seasoned north-eastern-suburbs veterans).
The food is just as adorable and good-looking as the space itself, with some great French toast made with brioche, mandarin curd, stewed raspberries, cream and pistachios; an amazing almond granola with vanilla yoghurt, spiced apple and berry compote; as well as the house specialty of Lean Green Eggs (poached eggs with dukkah, spinach, labna and hommus). Pretty nice indeed, and with plenty for the vegos among you. Come for the cute style, stay for the substance.
