Often the meals from hotels can leave a lot to be desired, with ravenous appetites having to settle for uninspired dishes. Luckily there are still places like the Peacock Inn, where quality dining is given high regard. The atmosphere is kept casual and unpretentious by the mixed clientele that gather here, with everyone from young families to hip 30-somethings gathering for a meal, or at least to knock back a drink in the beer garden. As the restaurant often hosts a sports-mad crowd, the telly gets wheeled out on special occasions like footie finals, so you can still catch the game while enjoying a juicy scotch fillet steak.

Great food, bad service.
We had our engagement party there and had a number of issues. Firstly you have to pay $150 room fee so no one else can use the room. This charge is very uncalled for when you are bringing 70 people to a venue to eat and drink. We had random people coming in and out all night buying drinks at the bar (which prevented us from putting a tab on the bar and what we thought the $150 was supposed to prevent from happening) Luckily we had so many people that any outsiders would not have been able to find a table. Secondly, the staff looked like they really didn't want to be there. Thirdly, we had a table of breast feeding and expectant mothers who were starving and when they tried to order, the waitress told them they had to fill the table to order (there were 10 of them). Instead of dividing the table to accommodate our guests, they were forced to find others to sit at their table so they could eat and then had to wait over an hour for their meals. It is sad because the food was great - no complaints there and compliments to the chef... and the hotel and atmosphere are beautiful.
