A chic fitout of polished floorboards and mirrors offset by rustic chandeliers has turned what was a tired old cake shop into Essenden's latest craze in baked goods.
The man responsible for the out-the-door queues is pastry chef Neil McKenzie and the reason he is so popular is his divine baked goods. McKenzie refuses to compromise on ingredients, using only the richest butter and couverture chocolates to make his artisan pastries. The result is an almond croissant or chocolate beignet worth joining the back of the line for.
