Restaurant Information
Parente
With dark timber contrasting richly with cream walls and exposed brick, Parente's is a good looking restaurant. From the atrium to the lollipop-coloured lure of the gelati bar and cake cabinet, this spacious restaurant gleams polished perfection. The Italian menu includes diavolo oysters (bivalve beauties with a spicy dressing of chilli, tomato, bocconcini and zesty basil), while seafood also shines in the pasta dishes. Spaghetti comes in marinara or vongole versions, with the latter appealing with its load of fresh baby clams. The beauty of vongole lies in its simplicity and in this kitchen's interpretation it's gingerly matched with tomato, kalamata olives and basil. It is hard to go past Italian veal dishes at the best of times, but the menu's scaloppine pancetta makes it impossible. Grain-fed, tender pieces are pan-fried in butter then cooked slowly in napoletana sauce and topped with spinach, pancetta and bocconcini. The extensive pizza list includes the 'feta special', where the Danish cheese keeps company with pepperoni, chilli, fresh tomatoes and basil leaves. If you would prefer to enjoy it at home on your couch then swing past Parente's drive-through window and take one away.

A quiet, enjoyable meal.
I dined at Parente's this week and found it to be a slightly above average experience. The food was great - I had a chicken, proscutio and mushroom fettutine. It was very tasty. The garlic bread was same old same old, not bad not good. The service was alright, it was just a little too attentive. Every time I set my water glass down someone came to top it up. I felt a little awkward about drinking, as they were watching me with bird eyes. Although, it is better to have observant helpful waiters, than unhelpful ones.
We were the only ones in the resturant. We dined at 7pm and left at 8:30pm. The interior is lovely, the tables are beautiful and its got a good decor. It was just a little too quiet for my taste. No background music, and I felt as though I couldn't talk freely because it would be so easy for the waiters to listen to our entire conversation. I'm sure it would be better on a busier night.
Not a bad experience.
