Palookaville

This cafe and bar adopts a relaxed attitude with recycled timber lining the walls and an accessible menu of bargain meals. Weekend breakfasts feature gourmet versions of brekkie favourites, while the dinner menu roams the globe for inspiration. The humorous name is from an American term for a clumsy or oafish person, though this is surely not meant as a description of their graceful Fitzroy clientele.

Do yourself a favour!!
From the outside it looked like a casual cafe with a pool table and people just sitting around. Once we sat and got to appreciate the decor and the warm atmosphere it felt very homely. The menu is amazing and I will have to go back to try more of the dishes at just $14 each for mains. They might be cheap but there is no compromise on the quality and I would expect to pay $23-$25 elsewhere for the same meal. The desserts at $9 each are big serves and again look and taste great. Staff are friendly and genuine and the regulars chat with us strangers at the bar. Thoroughly enjoyable night and can't wait to get back there again soon.

the best parma anyone could get!
Palookaville is the place to be! The parma was fantastic as it is not your standard parma like in every other bar. The chef has created a new look on it and it was the best one I have ever eaten! The service was fantastic right down to the barman sharing his secret recipe shot the "ohhoo" a must try drink! Reccomended to all for a good meal a good drink and a relaxed atmosphere!
