Paladar

Devised by connoisseur Filip Pilioras, Paladar Fumior Salon is a must for lovers of Cuban coffee, culture and cigars. Filip Pilioras has been making coffee for over 13 years and began importing cigars 5 years ago. The red exterior of his cafe is eye-catching, while the interior is amazingly decorated with recycled timber, raw brick and Cuban handicrafts. The drawcard is, of course, the coffee and the wide selection of cigars. Whether it's inside the main cafe, out in the inviting courtyard filled with sofas and pot plants or on the rooftop terrace - with its benches and deck chairs - you can kick back and relax with a couple of strong, dark, rich Cubans (the cigars, of course).

A great way to start the working day
One of the real delights about Paladar Fumior Salon is that Filip Pilioras has created a little village centre in one of the busiest streets on the edge of Brisbane.

Along with other local workers in the South Brisbane precinct, I like to begin my working day with a good coffee and the tribal connection that we seem to have lost in our urban development.

Paladar Fumior Salon is intimate without being intrusive, communal and yet spacious and best of all, provides an alternative space to enjoy the magic that comes from eating and drinking with other people.
