The baby sister to South Melbourne's much-loved boutique coffeehouse St Ali, this new cafe, restaurant and retail venture is all about bringing finely roasted cuppas to the mouths of more Melbourne coffee hounds. Set in South Yarra, Outpost caters to the true coffee connoisseur and the newly initiated, freshly roasting 15 single origin blends right before your eyes in an old-fashioned kitchen set-up. The same goes for the food - you can watch head chef Paul Jewson and his team cook up a seasonal selection of English and provincial French foods ranging from pan-roasted fillet and tartare of king fish with a baby kipfler potato salad, chilli jam and sauteed spinach, to the Tarago River Gippsland blue cheese, broccoli and spinach tart. It's clear that the Outpost team are on a mission - and you're invited backstage for all the fun.
