Out of Africa

Opening out onto the bustling Manly Esplanade, Out Of Africa is relaxed beach dining at its best. The atmosphere is raucous and fun and the spicy, inventive meals show you why this is a favourite with the locals. The tagines, served in the traditional Moroccan pots, also offer something Sydney diners don't get enough of.

Unique
We went here for dinner on the night that my fiance and I got engaged and it was great! The flavours were so interesting, it was great tasting food where the flavours were so diverse to what we would usually eat. There was about ten of us and we all really loved it! Highly recommended.

Always a favorite
We love this place, great food, great atmosphere and service. We'd eat here all the time if it was a little cheaper, but it is always where we go with the girls for a special occation.

Great staff, great food
Firstly, I don't think you can judge a restaurant on the attitude of one paltry waitress; by the time you have read this she may have moved on, but the damage bad reviews make to a restaurant's reputation takes longer to repair. Personally, I found the service to be warm and friendly, the meatballs melt in the mouth divine and the dips to die for. It was a little quieter than I would have liked, but the low lighting and authentic decoration created enough ambience all the same. Good value too for a restaurant right by the wharf. Don't let the first review put you off! And if you get bad service - complain to the manager, and give them the opportunity to change your mind!

Service out of africa?
I used to like this restaurant. I went there recently and was barked at by a waitress who instead of seating us rudely told my friend and I that we were not to sit in a particular section because that was booked so we showed ourselves to one of the other tables. We waited at that table for a while and no one came with a menu and no one offered to take our drinks order. The restaurant was less than 25% full! No outdoor tables were used. There appeared to be no reason for the obvious insult and no explanation for the delay. Needless to say we left after being ignored by another of the waitstaff. Unfortunately I would never go there again. Service was awful.

Great Place, Great Time
Highly recommend trying the signature dish of Moroccan meatballs. Start off with the mixed dips and just enjoy the atmosphere. The African brews could be a bit more inspiring, but I will happily go back again.
