This unassuming restaurant, with a charming upstairs courtyard and a menu just long enough to give you a decent choice, is attractive to couples and small groups, though the staff also cater to children, with specially sized simple meals and babycinos. The adult menu offers a decent selection, with good-sized servings for a reasonable price, including sauteed mushrooms and goat's cheese on sourdough for breakfast, fresh scampi and crab linguine for dinner, and an exquisite flourless chocolate pudding for those who can manage dessert. Relaxed, casual dining in a stylish but friendly atmosphere, with attentive and helpful staff and good, tasty food is a great way to spend a day, but if you're planning on eating dinner over the weekend, make sure you book ahead, as this popular little restaurant tends to get very busy very quickly.

Fab casual dining
My friends and I have been going to Our Place since it opened and still enjoy it. Marco and Jason do a great job of running the place, and the food and service are always spot on. The service is always polite and accurate even when things get busy. Our Place has been occasionally putting more variety in their menu which is great too. If you can sit upstairs it is great, even in winter as they have gas heaters. We had our casual engagement party upstairs and it was fantastic - great space for that type of thing, or great for simply an easy lunch, breakfast or dinner. Recommend this place if you are after somewhere casual with good food and easy service.

Bring on brunch at our place
We've found what we're looking for. Somewhere fresh and exciting to eat at, but realises that on a Sunday morning people can be a little raw. The ability of the staff to accommadate people's individual needs was impressive and it was all done with genuine approval. This is what Balmain has been waiting for on a Sunday. Also we enjoyed the music when we returned for coffee in the afternoon. Don't change.

Relaxed, delicious, perfect
We go to Our Place often on the weekend. It's a really nice relaxed place with good food - the prawn and corn quesadillas with barbecue sauce are just delicious for a light brunch. The scampi linguine is mouthwatering -- we had that for valentine's day and were given a couple of chocolate dipped strawberries after paying our bill -- a very nice touch. Marco and his staff are very polite, friendly and attentive. It's the kind of restaurant that quickly becomes a favourite.

We stopped into this charming restaurant while touring around Sydney and what a pleasant surprise. Coming from Vancouver Canada and as former restaurateur's we were impressed with the service and also had the pleasure of meeting John the chef who was a wonderful host. This is place is definitely worth stopping in for a try.

A place worth remembering
There's something comforting about neighbourhood restaurants that don't try too hard. Service is informal but welcoming, there are no tablecloths. The food is solid and good value and there are a couple of tables abutting the old sandstone church. You can eat with the bats in the evening. Very Balmain. Tim Lester

I have been to this restaurant several times now. It has become a regular meeting place for our friends who want to catch up and have meal. The food is getting better and better, with great variety on the menu. I just can’t go past the prawn salad. I love eating in the courtyard. The staff are very accommodating. Definitely worth a try for something different to what's usually on offer around Balmain.
