Ormeggio at The Spit

Overlooking the d'Albora Marina, this restaurant is surrounded by the scenic delights. The word ormeggio means berth or mooring in Italian and the menu of contemporary meals is influenced by the cuisine of Northern Italy.

Chef Alessandro Pavoni aims to show his diners a very different side of Italian cuisine. Ormeggio's menu evokes the nostalgia of a typical family get-together in the town of Brescia, Lombardi: tortellini filled with veal bone marrow and taleggio, gremolata puree; sardines stuffed with parsley, wrapped in prosciutto, pine nuts and sultanas; and the family centrepiece, the Brescian spit roast with duck, quail and two cuts of pork cooked for five hours with sage and butter, served with polenta over a full-bodied northern Italian wine.

Ormeggio's fresh and contemporary charm reveals an authentic taste of a region that has been less discovered - until now, that is.
