Forget the green of opal; this is a crisp white cafe, fresh and light and very much above ground. Located in Northbridge opposite the pretty Russell Square on Aberdeen Street, it serves cafe classics such as bruschetta; warm chicken salad; and corn fritters. There are also some more interesting options such as the saffron and prawn risotto; and the smoked salmon linguine. Or if you're not feeling hungry, just pop in for a coffee and sample their super-gourmet Arabica quality coffee beans.

Great breakfast
I hate Northbridge. I will try and avoid it at all costs, but after breakfast here one Sunday morning I will be visiting more often. I had the vegetarian breakfast and it was unique in its ingredients and completely fresh. There were some great offerings and good service. The decor is modern and bright and it was just a shame there weren't more people there to enjoy it. This is one of the nicest breakfasts I have ever had. There are too many cafes recycling the old bacon and eggs number with a few sides which offer no taste. For a relaxing good quality wholesome breakfast it is a must try.

Mmmm
Went to Opal for breakfast and it was very nice, perfectly cooked eggs Benedict and a nice flat white coffee. Lacked atmosphere though as there were only one other couple dining at the time.
