Ocha

Simply furnished and strikingly small, you wouldn't guess the extent of this restaurant's cult following just by looking at it. However, a sly glimpse at the reservations book (full three months in advance) or a word with any of its local fans will set you straight. This tiny eatery's reputation rests firmly on its food: chef Yasu Yoshida's Japanese cuisine with a modern twist. Diners can sample a selection of sushi, which go way beyond your basic handroll with such options as the distinctive inside-out rolls. Beyond sushi, the menu might feature eggplant with miso paste and chicken mince; or tempura crab with shiso leaf.

Thought I would give the new ocha a go and suggested it for our girls get together and we liked most of the entrees we ordered and shared but the mains were quite ordinary especially the hot pot. The service that evening was very very attentive and friendly and the Asian waitress made us feel very welcomed. Maybe because it was very busy or the caustic of the place wasn't too good but there seems to be unusual amount off noise and at times we couldn't hold a conversation without raising our voices

MasterChef!!
The girl in charge of the diary is a bit stroppy and you're packed in like sardines, but you forget these little irritations when you start eating. The food is just divine. The chef is a master. Overall the waiter service is average, although one young waiter who is usually there when we go is a delight and always makes everyone feel extra welcome. I hesitate to even write this review becaise it's already difficult enough to get a table - but if you haven't tasted the food here yet, you should go as soon as the lady with the diary will have you!

Guests must be good at planning ahead - or lucky!
Book a long time ahead or you will not get in. If you do you will be rewarded with food that is different and very special. I have only eaten inside and it's very small and you are packed in. I have been a number of times but would go more often if they weren't always booked out.
