A true one-room wonder, this newly decked-out little cafe off Carlton's main drag is constantly packed with droves of people who just can't stay away from the great breakfasts on offer. After a minimalist refurb of the old Skew Bar site, North has been transformed into the ultimate local cafe, complete with great coffee, all-day brekkies and lunch options that go well beyond the usual boring choices.
The bright indoor space is clean and welcoming, dominated by a black-and-white feature wall that looks somewhat like a page from the world's largest colouring book. This could be the reason for the high pram and toddler traffic that North attracts, but the cupcakes and gingerbread bears might also have something to do with it.
