I'll be back for sure
I had dinner at North for my wedding anniversary.

As per my online booking request, upon arrival I was taken to my window seat. Even for an early dinner at 6:30pm it was a full house in the restaurant. The atmosphere within the restaurant doors was gorgeous and sophisticated. The service from the wait staff was of a 5 star quality. At every request, the wait staff were quick to react and deliver but did so professionally and always with a smile. It made us so comfortable.

I ordered the garlic bread, Rare seared tuna and oyster beignets as entree's, all of which were spot on. It was a new experience to have a tuna steak so well prepared and with its delicate seasoning the taste of the tuna itself was further enhanced. Along side my other two entree's, I also tantalized my tastebuds with the Seared South-east wild venison loin. The vension was fresh and cooked to perfection.

My main was the mixed grill, which consisted of red and white meat, a variety of seafood and a mountain of salad. The filet, rack of lamb and chicken breast came accompanied with a chutney and a Japanese inspired sauce which were incredible, but the seafood was also coupled with a tatare sauce that showed off the quality of the local produce.

With an extensive wine list, it was difficult to choose only one, however what was surprising was, even the standard sparkling red wine North had to offer, worked well with the dishes I ordered.

Special occasion spoilt
For a birthday lunch we decided to try North and were sorely disappointed. The restaurant was less than half full however the service was slow. Our furstration was increased when we finally got to place our wine order and were informed, after a period of time, that the run of the mill bottle of wine that we had ordered was out of stock. Another wait to place our food orders. After a 40 minute wait the food arrived and despite the fact that I had ordered for my grandmother (the birthday girl) her order was incorrect (beer battered fish and chips arrived instead of the much more interesting market fish of the day that she wanted). The meals were only ok. So basically, a special birthday trip into town for my grandmother turned into a very disappointing meal. There was no offer of a complimentary drink or the removal of the mis-delivered meal from the bill, in fact, the waiter was at pains to point out that he had not charged us for cakeage even though I had previously confirmed with North that there would be no charge if we cut the cake ourselves. Despite the pleasant atmosphere we will not be returning.
