Why visit The Norfolk? Well, as the signage outside this Perth icon cheekily states, "why not?" The charming heritage-listed stone building and beautiful walled courtyard alone are reason enough to step through the gates. With plenty of shade from the trees, together with ample heaters and comfy director's chairs, the spacious courtyard is perfect whatever the weather. The modern Australian menu is available until 9pm, including fish 'n' chips, tapas plates and stand-out pizzas. Sundays are a leisurely affair, starting with breakfast from 8.30am until 11am and finishing with some chilled sounds in the afternoon from guest DJs.

What ever happened to good service?
We had friends visiting from the UK so we wanted to show them a little piece of Freo so we decided on the Norfolk. The food was pretty average, badly burnt, unseasoned pizza, tiny mussels and over cooked squid. The bar staff seemed more interested in catching up on last nights gossip rather than serving me. After being short changed from a $50 then my notes were dumped in a wet patch of beer on the bar. I left The Norfolk with a bad taste in my mouth, and it was not just from the food.
