Noodle House is an institution, a weekly ritual for many Darwinites, whose standing reservation keeps their tastebuds in a state of high anticipation throughout the week. These people know the menu off by heart, but usually stick to the tried and true favourites.
For those who aren't familiar with this popular Chinese restaurant, anything on the menu is worth a try. Owner Tony Jape says the most popular dishes on the menu are the steamed barramundi with ginger shallots; and the crispy beef with plum sauce. Some swear by the simple pleasures of Szechuan beef and fried rice, but a clear winner for the indecisive diner is the sample platter, which offers a little bit of everything. The food here is always consistently good and the restaurant is renowned for its affordability; you'll easily get a meal for less than $20 and have some left over to take home.
The interior at the Noodle House isn't anything to write home about - it's been a round for awhile and looks it - but somehow this adds to the authenticity of the place. The chefs here are the real thing too; dim sum chefs come from China, bringing with them all the secrets of the orient.
