Spice is the variety of life at Nirvana, but the cool music and chilled-out atmosphere counterbalance the potentially blistering dishes. Offering a triple treat combination of Indian, Malay and Thai, the menu provides some outstanding choices, although the Nirvana bugs are the signature dish for good reason. Wash them down with a glass of Wirra Wirra Handpicked Riesling or an icy mango daiquiri.
Nirvana is Darwin's unofficial home of jazz and blues, and the bar is ideal to enjoy live performances of soulful tunes before settling in for dinner. The dim lighting and mellow colours maintain the tranquil mood created by the music, while the eclectic collection of artwork adorning the walls ensures a steady stream of patrons can be seen meandering through the four separate dining or drinking areas. Look for the interesting variation of the Mona Lisa and book one of the private wood booths out the back for an intimate evening experience.

Lovely place that keeps calling me back!
I am a big fan of Nirvana and the amazing offering of food and atmosphere it has. A great variety of options on their menu, including tasty options for vegetarians, each time you go back you are able to explore something different. I love how depending on what night you go will determine what goes on around you - I would highly recommend taking the time to head there when live music is playing. Sometimes the quality of service will depend also on which night you are there and how big a group you are with. But overall, the experience is amazing and Nirvana is one of the best parts of Darwin I have discovered so far.

All in one!
This place would have to be my favourite restaurant! I always take visitors to Darwin here because Nirvana has everything in the one spot. The live music they have almost every night is fantastic. The food is a great mix of cuisines and the seafood is to die for. We always try to head there on a Saturday to get the extra benefit of the Bellydance show! It's such a talking point and makes sure there are no awkward silent moments at the table. I've never seen such a huge range of exotic things behind one bar and the bartenders sure know how to fling them together in a cocktail(or 100 or so on the list)Yum Yum Yum!

Funky place
I love a restaurant with booths and the separate rooms of this great little place make it feel much more intimate, while it still has some bigger tables for groups as well. The cocktail prices are very good and the wine list has a good range to choose from with some food matching suggestions. The only thing about being tucked away in a booth is that you can't tell how busy the rest of the restaurant is, so start to wonder about where your meal is. The food itself was great, and it's good to be able to take away when your eyes are bigger than your stomach. The Indian dips platter, Pandang chicken and red duck curry were all very tasty.

Best Restaurant In Darwin by FAR
Three cuisines, live blues and jazz and consistently great food and service. Jason the owner is the perfect host. Fantastic wine list and very reasonable. Give it a go, you'll not be disappointed. Try one of their signature fresh mango daquiris!
