Follow the stairs from Macquarie Street down to a well-lit room of red carpet, stripy outdated red wallpaper and plastic chairs - this CBD Japanese social club seems to be stuck in a retro time warp, but retains a shabby charm all the same. The menu well exceeds the expectations informed by the surroundings. Featuring tasty options such as the gyu tataki (seared tenderloin beef slices with pepper sauce), this out-of-the-way club is a gem of a find. The bar serves cocktails, a nice selection of Japanese beers and sake.
