It's fair to say the Blue Mountains aren't exactly a haven of fine dining experiences. Views? Tranquillity? Fog? Got 'em all in spades, but there's still nowhere good to eat. That trend is slowly changing, starting with Nineteen23.
Chef David Nemeth, whose impressive resume includes stints at the Boathouse at Blackwattle Bay, Tabou and Fix St James, is the driving force behind this Blue Mountains food movement. His seasonally driven menu features local, organic produce that speaks of a real kitchen ethos rather than fashionable zeitgeist. The wholly modern menu is offset tastefully by a classic period dining room that features marble-topped tables, crystalline chandeliers and a grand open fireplace.
For too long Lolli Redini has been left to fly the flag for Central Tablelands dining on its own. Thankfully Nineteen23 is here to champion the cause for regional NSW.
