Sister restaurant to Chutney Mary's in Subiaco, Nine Mary's is a bastion of style and sensory pleasure in the centre of Perth. Specialising in tasty Indian treats, the kitchen is presided over by Sid Grewal who, with his team, combines fresh herbs and spices to create a delicious meals at reasonable prices, from favourites such as butter chicken and rogan josh to more exotic creations. The interior is all wood and white table cloths, with high tables and bar stools proving to be a great attraction.

Can't wait to go back
We had a work function here and all thought the food was fantastic. The only problem we found was the waitstaff could have told us the amount of rice and bread we had ordered was rediculous. I hated knowing it would all go in the bin. The tandoori paneer was the best I have ever had and I am a paneer freak! We had the lamb and spinach curry, it was perfect, as was the lobster curry. Others on the table tried most of the dishes on offer. I think sometimes diners forget how much food costs come to, when they talk about portions. If you like meat of a decent grade, instead of chewy gristle, then $22 does not buy you a huge amount. Restaurants do not get their meat much cheaper than regular consumers, as everybody thinks. I thought the servings were fine for the quality of the food, we were impressed by the amount of lobster we had, and we all know that's not cheap. Great work Nine Mary's, see you next weekend!

Shameful service
This restaurant was amazingly quiet for a weekday afternoon. Even then, the service was slow. We waited over 1 hour for our meals - whereby entrees arrived and the main course was forgotten about! Needless to say, we left the restaurant a little hungry and thoroughly disappointed at the service - or lack thereof.

Dinner with guests
I have dined at Nine Mary's restaurant often, and on each occassion I have enjoyed both the quality of the food and service. On this occassion I decided to bring important clients and their families. All agreed this was the best Indian in Perth. We had no trouble waiting for food and thought the service was pleasant and quick - definately a great spot for entertaining!

Great food
I have been here a couple of times before so I didn't expect so much - I know that the food takes time and service is slow. This time was completely different. The staff were amazing, the food fantastic and we didn't have to wait. I will definitely come back.

Nice starters, very small mains dishes
Saturday night the restaurant was very quiet so we expected a good service for just the four of us, but it was fairly average. The food was good, especially the tandoori tasting plate that we had with our starters. The biggest gripe we had was the 'mains' portion sizes were very disappointing. When you're paying $22 for each main dish we felt they weren't good value. Not sure if I would rush back for another meal?

Great food. Shame about the service
This restaurant's menu and wine list are very good. The food that (eventually) arrived was great, with subtle flavours from a chef of obvious competence. However, although we weren't rushing, the time it took to get our starters and mains was excessive and it just led to an overall bad experience. If you want great food, take a book for between courses!
