This modern restaurant is evocative of an abstract art gallery, serving aesthetically astounding masterpieces constructed from excellent Japanese food. The space itself is not the bare white room of a gallery; warm and womb-like red walls surround diners as they relax on rattan chairs. The sense of visual balance comes to full fruition in the food, with some dishes featuring bright contrasting colours and ingredients woven together on a plate or, as in the tasting plate, set out in a checkerboard pattern. The food itself has more to recommend it than just the visual, offering an interesting blend of Japanese and European flavours. The excellent sushi and sashimi is recommended, but those wanting a little bit of modern fusion might try the Japanese mushrooms with caviar in a creamy spaghetti.

Divine and Sublime at Nine
We had a large party dining this night (about 17 of us) and could not have asked for a nicer evening. The food is so gorgeously presented and innovative- a far cry from your average Japanese fare in Perth. And DELICIOUS to boot! Tasting plates were a wonderful way for everyone (including the not so adventurous) to try out several bits and pieces. I'm not going to go into the dishes, but all I can say is I had a party in my mouth and everyone with me agreed!
Staff were professionals who knew there stuff- all our questions were answered knowledgeably. They also tolerated our rowdiness (there were a lot of us!) without joining in and getting all chummy.
Lovely setting and he fact it is BYO with only small corkage charge just tops it off as a perfect venue.
This place is a gem- exciting, adventurous, good value, warm and professional. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely sublime
This restaurant is sublime. I had the a la carte whilst my partner had the set menu. The freshness of the ingredients needs to be experienced to understand this gorgeous little place. My only criticism (if it is that) goes towards the banquette sitting alongside the wall which doesn't seem to be cushioned properly. However I'll be back again.

Fifteen - inventive and delicious
I went to Fifteen with my partner for a "date" night, took a good bottle of red and we settled in. The food here is incredible and so inventive, lets be clear, the chances that are taking with mixing flavours and food cultures are incredible, and work. After a cold tasting plate of various seafoods and beef tataki that was interesting, decent value for money but not incredible, we shared the tuna and softshell crab and a caviar pasta (on the last reviewers suggestion!). I am a pasta nazi having worked in Italian resaurants for years, and there are so many reasons why this dish shouldn't work, but my God, it was incredible. the seafood dish was great too, although my only complaint would be that the tuna was a little overdone, which is of course easy to do. we finished up with sharing a desert special of poached vanilla pear with toffee and black sesame icecream. incredible, particularly the icecream! Great service, great relaxed but classy atmosphere, great place.

Dinner at Nine was divine!
I was there on a busy Saturday night in a party of nine; the service was unfaltering considering the size of our group.
A combination of Japanese and European influences, the quality and presentation of the food was impressive. I would highly recommend any of the seafood dishes, having experienced the entree sharing plates in both hot and cold.
Most of my party had either the Atlantic salmon and sushi or the special of barramundi with soba noodles. Each course was more delectable than the last and everyone walked away satisfied. Nine is BYO, so take advantage and bring a few bottles. As it is a small establishment expect a long night at Nine, our entire dining experience concluded at four hours!

Nine is close to a perfect 10!
Last night I had the best Japanese-style food I've ever eaten. Being an avid fan of eating out and finding new tastes, the menu at Nine was both incredibly exciting and alluring with some new ingredient combinations for me.
Normally I'd opt for just an entree, but with such interesting tastes on offer we decided to do a three-course dinner.
My entree of ginger sashimi salmon with baby leaves, avocado and a perfectly cooked large prawn was delicate and simple, though could have done with a lime cheek to spike the taste. My friend's salmon-wrapped raw oysters were delicious - the tobiko providing perfect crunch and the creamy sauce enhanced the oyster. My friend decided to waste-not and also devoured the entire prawn head from my plate apart from the sharp barb!
My main was divine soft-shell crab complete with carapace, black caviar and rare seared tuna fillets. The creamy green tobiko sauce was perfect. My friend's main was the eel fillets in a sticky sweet base marinade with delicate vegetables. Not even the garnish remained when we were finished our meals.
Desserts of banana and chocolate spring rolls with vanilla ice cream and chocolate filled strawberries deep-fried with mint leaves and black sesame ice cream were truly mouth watering.
Sadly I use a wheelchair and while it's a wholly flat venue with ramped entry, one unisex toilet is totally useless for anybody who needs that access, and it's not a particularly fancy feature given the otherwise warm and welcoming venue. If this could be addressed Nine would be getting the perfect 10 from me. While lack of toilet access can make me hesitate to be a repeat diner, the food and service was outstanding, so you can count me as a repeat customer in the waiting.
FYI for wheelchair access, the parking is flat on-street, ramped entry, and there is an accessible toilet at the Hotel Northbridge just up the road. I know it's not good enough access, but the food is to die for!
