Sitting in the heart of Melbourne's Greek town, attracting plenty of longing stares and looking for all the world like utter heaven for cake lovers, Nikos is one of Oakleigh's favourite Greek cafes and cake shops. The window displays are diabetes-inducing works of art, and the house specialty, galaktoboureko (a Greek custard slice that consists of smooth custard and layers of pastry with cinnamon vanilla syrup), is a crowd-puller. The coffee and savoury offerings - including light, Greek-style meals - are not bad either, but just make sure you leave room for the important stuff.
