Along with its sister restaurant down the road, Newtown Thai serves decent quality cuisine in incredibly generous portions, for a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere. Each dish is packed with fresh vegetables and the clean, fragrant flavours of their sauces are very satisfying. All of your favourite Thai dishes are here, including aromatic peanut satay sticks and crunchy vegetable curry puffs, as well as some new twists on old classics such as the green salmon curry with beans, zucchini and basil. The restaurant itself is simply decorated, though not overly attractive, with excessive wood paneling and slightly gaudy artworks, but the waitstaff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is comfortable and the tables are always packed with loyal regulars. Add to this a $6 lunch menu with a wide selection of curries, noodles and, soups, as well as a good range of vegie options, and you've got the perfect local eatery that will leave you with plenty of money for dessert, even if you don't have enough room left to indulge.

Fantastic Fast Cheap and Very Tasty
We had the paradise prawns for entree - lots of batter, overly deep-fried wrapping around small prawns. Not so good, but for mains we had Newtown seafood stir-fried and red curry chicken. The portion was generous and the oyster sauce very flavoursome. The seafood was very fresh and tender. Great value!

Sentimental Favourite
It was the first place I've had Thai, and although it doesn't look like the nicest place, it definitely is the place for one of the best Thai restaurants in town.

I love this place
I eat here all the time and get a lot of takeaways. The lunch special $5.50 pad Thai has just gone up to $6, but I reckon this is still the best tasting and best value Thai meal in Sydney. Big ups to these guys for providing everything you need for a cheap and impressive dinner date spot.
