New Koreana BBQ

Try one of the traditional dishes at this local Korean barbecue, such as the bulgogi or a Korean pancake. There is a gorgeous, big, polished dark wood table down one side of the cream-painted room for large groups, while the smaller tables also have barbecue hotplates for diners to cook on.

Wicked As
Love the food, love the service and love the atmosphere. We have only just found this restaurant and have been 4 times already and still want to go back and back and back. I especially love it when they play their Korean music. Our favourite is the bbq beef, which is mixed with a lot of different spices and the Bento, with your sushi, beef, rice, and the sweetly coated potato. Yum, I'm hungry just writing about it. RECOMMEND HIGHLY

My First Visit - WILL GO AGAIN!
I decided to go after reading so many reviews (plus the location of it is great!).

Atmosphere: It was a Monday night and therefore it was very very quiet - started off with my husband and I talking at our table while another couple were just quietly eating. Fairly awkward. We didn't mind though. After an hour a large group came in and it started to be noisier. We didn't mind it quiet but others might not.

SERVICE: service is great. The staff are very friendly and seem to want to please.

FOOD: Great! I would recommend the raw beef appetizer - NOT the tempura. We also ordered the bulgogi which was yummy but the portions was a little small.

PRICE: for casual dining, this is on the upper scale. Between the two of us we spent 70$. Order wisely and you won't be disappointed.

OVERALL: Had a fantastic time and was craving going back for the past week. I'm going again tonight! Can't wait! Wont be ordering beers, just tea and the raw beef apetiser and will be trying the 3-types-of-meat bbq! ha! I'm excited :)

I hope this review was helpful! Thanks to others who recommended - Cheers!

Bang On
Tuesday night about 9pm, it's a given that the joint is not going to pumping. The boys and I wanted to try something a little different for a change. Sensational idea by us, Food was magnificent.

Ordered a round of entrees, then got stuck into the BBQ. Meat was fresh and marinated, we managed to try the Beef, Pork and the Chicken Bulgogi (this was spot on).

Great idea having the Barbies in the table, makes for a really great experience. My mate used a fork, whilst another and I got stuck into the food with the metal chopsticks. Nice touch I say. However when it came down to who was going to grab the final pieces of meat the fork won out, handing our friend a couple of extra mouthfuls.

Initially the idea is to wrap up the meat in the lettuce and get stuck into it using your hands. This makes for fun start to the evening, however I would not recommend bringing a first date here if you are trying to impress with class and elegance. However, if you both are grubs, then get involved.

The only annoying thing about this whole experience was when we ran out of lettuce and ordered more we were told it was going to cost us an extra two bucks. Luckily we have a job still and could afford it, but we did throw the idea out there of sneaking our own in
next time!!

The staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy a laugh.
It was well priced, and has a solid range of beers. We did notice it's BYO (wine only) which hadn't been reported, this would have been nice to know!

Overall I am going to give it four and a half spuds out of five, delightful... tell your mates.

Will be back
I was looking for a Korean BBQ where we could cook at our own table so I was reading reviews to ascertain if that was possible. The first review on this restaurant was not good at all but I read on and there were some very good reports so we decided to give it a go as it was very handy for us being in Richmond. It was quite late on a Sunday night so it wasn't jumping with atmosphere but it was very clean and nicely presented. The service was great, they all had big smiles and eager to help. The food was fresh, tasty and healthy. This is my first review and I felt compelled to write (after what was obviously an unfortunate experience of the last reviewer) as this will definitely be a place we will go back to. A group of us are always on the lookout for interesting (and interactive) dining experiences and I am looking forward to suggesting this for our next outing.

Won't be back
We were extremely disappointed by this restaurant and would never go back. We had the chicken bulgogi BBQ. When it came to the table we were confused as to whether it was pork or chicken as it was unrecognisable. The beef appeared as strips of battered scraps. The spicy seafood casserole /hot pot were about $38 and consisted of very little seafood. This was a nice dish but greatly overpriced for the amount we got. The steamed rice we had ordered did not come to after the meals and when a few of us had finished eating. The $5.50 lemon, lime, bitters was again overpriced as it was a pre-mixed bottled drink from the supermarket. We felt for a Saturday night out we were rushed. The meals all arriving at the same time and finished within an hour and a half. Over all we were disappointed, as we had read previous reviews. The quality of food was poor and fairly overpriced for what we got. Definitely don't recommend.

Meaty magnificence
We booked a table for 15 on Australia Day for my Korean husband's 30th birthday. The manager was great, and called me a few hours early to confirm my booking, and ask if I was bringing a cake- which she said she would keep in the kitchen and bring it out lit up for us. When we arrived she helped me choose a selection of menu items to feed 15 people. The food arrived fairly quickly, and the friendly staff helped us cook the meat on the grills. It happened to be Chinese New Year so the restaurant had a special performance of Korean drumming. The food was fantastic- it didn't taste quite like what you'd get in Korea, but was very close. I think the marinades etc have been changed a bit to suit western taste buds, but it's the best Korean meal I've had in Melbourne. They re-filled our side dishes a couple of times- Korean etiquette requires this but you might have to ask. When they bought out the cake they played music and let off streamers too which was very fun. Altogether we spent about $290 for 15 people including soft drinks, entrees, rice, and meat. Highly recommended.

Just like being in Korea
This is now the second time we have dined at this restaurant. It's just like dining back home in Korea. The food is outstanding, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the prices are excellent and the food is delicious! Never fails to satisfy anyone we take with us. A true gem! Will definitely be back again and again!

Recently dined here after reading about it and it ticks all boxes. Loved the food being cooked in front of us. Amazing flavours and side dishes were great too. Very good value for money also. Will definitely be back.

Brilliant!
My friend introduced me to Korean BBQ at this one restaurant on Russell Street, I initially thought that it was such a fun and very tasty specialty. We drove along Victoria Street and spotted New Koreana BBQ, and decided to eat there.

Wow... I am glad that we took the time to eat at this restaurant.

The quality of the food is amazing, the meat is fresh and looks appetising compared to the first restaurant I had gone to. I love my entrees and they offer a wide range of entrees, the sushi is pretty good, and the tempura is complemented by the dipping sauce provided.

As for the BBQ itself, I love the pork belly and bulgogi the most!

My friend and I have taken our family, and most of our friends to this restaurant. The service is great as well, very friendly wait staff at the New Koreana BBQ. The managers of the restaurant are so friendly as well, and passionate about the food they provide to customers!

For those who want to have a great culinary experience regarding Korean BBQ, this restaurant is the way to go.

Fantastic
The first time I had Korean BBQ I was in Japan. My partner and I went there almost every single night. So when I heard there was Koren BBQ in Melbourne I just had to go and try. New Koreana BBQ was amazing. The service is 11 out of 10. And the price is so affordable. Must try the pork belly. I will most definitely be going again. Highly recomended.

Awesome night
Ventured to many a Korean restaurant in my time and just had to write a note on this one. I will second the bulgogi of the previous review, the beef and the pork were great. The stir fried spicy octopus was brilliant as well. Definitely on a par with the food from the city establishments, at a fraction of the price. We ate everything possible, 2 entrees, 3 mains with the standard accompaniments, a few alcoholic drinks each for $70. Awesome value, awesome food. Will definately go back.

Great Korean BBQ in Richmond
I have been to this restaurant a few times now and I can say it is definitely one of my favourite places. I love the spicy homemade kimchi and the spicy pork and chicken bulgogi BBQ. Don't forget the BBQ bulgalbi ribs which are tasty and great when cooked for a while and wrapped in lettuce. Easily one of the better places in Melbourne. Most Korean places don't marinate the meat but here the manager tells me she prepares it so the meat is tender and tasty from outside to in. Recommended.
