Located in a national heritage-listed building, this effortlessly stylish restaurant meshes old-world charm with a spruced-up fit-out and mod-Oz cuisine. With views of the Melbourne city skyline and the bay, Nelson's Restaurant is great for large functions and intimate dinners alike. Highlights from chef Lulzim Alovic's menu include the chicken breast stuffed with cream cheese and mushrooms, wrapped in prosciutto and served on a bed of snake beans and mashed potato; and the Spanish paella, featuring seafood, homemade chorizo sausage, chicken, and a mix of spicy herbs and chilli.

A Lovely Experience
We went to Nelsons for my wife and her twin sisters 40th birthday celebration. We hadn't been before, but were immediately impressed with the building and the outlook. It is a lovely place, and the view across the bay from our upstairs table was magnificent. In general the food was excellent, with a few small exceptions. My saganaki was a little rubbery but still tasted nice. It was too thick and they would do well to slice it in half and take a couple of dollars off the price. Also my wife's marinara was ok but lacked a bit of flavour, and the chickem parmigiana didn't have ham. Why in this day & age you would not put ham on a parma is beyond me. For goodness sake put some ham on it and charge an extra dollar. Other than that though the meals all were great. My lamb rack in particular was devine. Absolutely melt in your mouth and great value. As for the service, it was very friendly and pleasant, though not overly professional. We were a table of 12 and there were a number of other big tables and I think the restaurant had trouble coping. It was a long lunch but fortunately we weren't in a hurry. Another table near us obviously were and clearly were not happy about the length of time it took to get their meals. We brought our own cake along and they didn't charge to serve it which was very good of them. So overall we had a great day and were very happy with our meal at Nelsons.
