"Is there anywhere truly vegan to eat around here?" This was the seemingly innocuous question that led to the creation of this outstanding vegan cafe.
Thus, Naked Espresso was born. Nestled in the same premises as Basil Pizza and Pasta, this casual weekender is home to one of Sydney's best vegan brekkies. Look out for The Morning After Giant Fry-up: two sausages, three hash browns, grilled tomato, sauteed mushrooms, wilted baby spinach, roast pumpkin and home-cooked baked beans with organic sourdough toast with vegan margarine.
The menu may be filled with items that may be disturbing for the uninitiated: scrambled tofu, soysages and facon (fake bacon). But what the folks at Naked Espresso have managed, unlike countless other vegan cafes, is to remember that the strength of their conviction shouldn't come at the cost of flavour and enjoyment. The resulting product is something healthy, eco-friendly and remarkably tasty.
