The crew behind Syracuse and Mini has taken a scenic side trip away from their usual fine-dining route, opening cafe Nacional. Decorated in 'modern recycled' style, the cafe sets a casual chic tone with lots of timber, light streaming through glass walls and the quirky addition of a custom-designed chandelier made of old wine bottles. The menu is similarly laidback, offer simple Mediterranean-style dishes using largely organic and biodynamic produce. The breakfast menu includes familiar fare, while lunch and dinner might include such warming winners as winter greens and split pea soup with merguez sausage and fresh cream; or wild mushroom risotto with six types of organic mushrooms and a luxe touch of truffle oil.
