Restaurant Information
Na Zdrowie
This is a homely slice of Poland in Sydney's alternative heart of Glebe Point Road, offering visitors a little taste of the country's delightfully rich cuisine. Na Zdrowie is a BYO haunt that offers tasteful touches of Poland in its decor and an overt dedication to the mother country on its menu, which comes clipped to a rustic board. Think large, hearty, meaty and wholesome dishes. How about some fried crumbed mushroom with a horseradish dipping sauce to warm your soul? Try some schabowy (pork loin schnitzel, for the Polish illiterate), or maybe some kompot - though it might sound like some newfangled fertiliser, this sweet treat is actually a drink made of poached peaches.

Very very sad
When this restaurant first opened and struggled to fill its tables, we returned very regularly indeed because we really try to support restaurants in our community. We dine out two or more times a week. In the first few months we'd be the only table apart from what appeared to be the owners' family. Tonight, we walked in at 6.30, as booked, were than informed we had to get out by 8, were told to move to another table mid-meal to accommodate an arriving group (which we accepted without complaining), and when we wanted to order dessert at about 7.35, were told that couldn't be done because a further group was waiting for a table. It would not have been so bad if the only reason we were still there at the time was the fact that they left a 20-minute gap between starter and main. This a nice addition to the Glebe strip because of the variety it adds, not because it is fine dining. If they decide to compromise even that by trying to squeeze in as many sittings as they can, that is their prerogative, but it saddens me that once again an establishment is starting to self-destruct because temporary success is destroying what the only things that were good about the place in the early days: a homely, relaxed meal. Na zdrowie and goodbye to you good people
