Disappointing
I recently decided to check out the new(ish) setup down at the Mullallo. I remember back when it was a bikie bar, so it can only be improved right?
My partner and I were seated promptly and that's about where the service ended. Drinks took a long time to come as did the starters. To follow it up the mains came almost immediately after our starters, which was far too soon. Once our mains arrived I can say we were both very disappointed. My partner ordered the seafood paella which was bland, cooled and generally mediocre. I had a seafood pasta dish, after all we're right on the beach, their specialty should be the seafood right? Wrong again. The pasta was overcooked, the seafood was bland, with the oysters being so overcooked they were inedible. The whole dish was overpowered by a cheap tomato flavour, ruining any effect the dish was meant to have. To boot it cost me almost 30 dollars, and I say that they would've made a clear profit on that dish, because the produce they used didn't reflect the price.
Since I don't want to be entirely negative, I can say I'm glad I ordered a side of chips with the mains as that's all I ended up eating, and they were good (but if you can't cook chips, there's not much hope).
The service was dismal, we waited for over 40 minutes for our plates to be cleared and to order desserts. They were never cleared and even though we were sat right next to a cupboard that the wait staff were continually moving to and from. In the end we got up and decided to leave the place. I was not going to pay but my partner decided it wasn't worth the effort to argue (which I still regret). In the end we had spent almost $90 on horrible food and horrible service.

Mr Scott Cauchi
As I have been a local resident for some years now and have always enjoyed the Mullaloo Tavern mainly for its location, I was delighted to here that a new hotel was to be built. As I drive past the hotel everyday, the anticipation of the re-opening was growing. I finally had the opportunity to dine on Monday night and much to my dismay, my experience was less than satisfactory. I can appreciate that all new establishments have teething problems and staff are still being trained. I could even overlook the very limited menu on offer and could even excuse the fact that I had to order our meals from the bar and pay for them upfront, however when no one bothered to take our drink order and had to ask for some water after our meals arrived, alarm bells began to ring. Once our meals arrived both my wife and myself were very disappointed with the quality, quantity and presentation of the meals. Looking around the restaurant I notice most meals were "high" food, neatly stacked. Whilst this may seem very clever to some, perhaps the owners should consider the demographic to ensure the longevity of their business. I am not writing this review to be nasty or to receive anything in kind, quite the contrary, I would like to see this business succeed and it will take more than some stategically placed culinary awards near the front door to get me back. This is also the opinion of all my friends and family who have dined there since the opening. Mr Scott Cauchi
