Mr Fox

If this new bar on the Cleveland end of Crown Street gives you a sense of deja vu, it should. Despite its best efforts (which included Gonzo Ralph Steadman stencils) the short-lived Solas became yet another statistic in the grim hospoworld, and in its place has stepped Mr Fox.

The change of ownership and name wasn't heralded with great fanfare; like everything about this bar they just went about doing their own thing. The decor has received a makeover in the form of a communal chalkboard art project, while the food has gone from generic tapas to cheap eats heroes, which might be a problem if anyone was here solely to eat (side note: they're not).

Rounding out the quirky offerings of Mr Fox is Charlie's blues night, run every Thursday in the upstairs lounge. Couple this with a smart drinks list and pretension-free service and Mr Fox is looking about as charmingly eclectic as a Wes Anderson film. Suffice to say the Fantastic Mr Fox pun has been set up but is too painful to deliver, so let's just say this bar is definitely worth checking out.
